Terms of Use — Overlay RZ

Read this first

This application draws a crosshair over the screen. If you intend to use it in online games, item 3 of these terms is the most important part of the document and deals with a real risk: permanent ban of your game account. It is written in direct language, with no hedging, because the consequence is serious and you need to decide with the information in hand.

These terms are published at https://overlay-rz.emalon.io/termos, and that address appears on the application's listing in the Microsoft Store and in the first-run notice.

By installing or using Overlay RZ, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not install it — and, if you already have, uninstall it at Settings › Apps › Overlay RZ › Uninstall.

1. What this application is

Overlay RZ draws a customizable crosshair on top of other Windows windows. It was created for visual accessibility: game crosshairs that vanish against light backgrounds, are too thin, or expand when you want a fixed dot.

The application works by drawing in its own transparent window, laid over whatever is on the screen. It does not modify any game, does not inject code, does not read the memory of other programs and does not alter any file other than its own.

2. License

You may install and use Overlay RZ free of charge, on as many of your own computers as you like, for personal use.

You may not: sell the application, charge for it, redistribute it as if it were yours, or modify it and distribute the modified version under the same name or brand.

If you are under 18, use and acceptance of these terms depend on a parent or guardian — in particular item 3, which involves your game account and the money already spent on it.

The application, its code and the Overlay RZ brand belong to the developer identified in item 11, who publishes them under the name RZ Software.

3. ⚠️ Use in online games — read carefully

3.1 The risk is real and the punishment is usually permanent

We know of no anti-cheat system that authorizes crosshair overlays — and we looked.

This is not a universal prohibition — most games simply say nothing on the subject. But silence is not permission. And some games do speak: THE FINALS and ARC Raiders detect and block crosshair overlays by written policy.

Games with kernel-level anti-cheat, such as Battlefield 6 and Valorant, have a documented history of blocking legitimate programs by mistake — including MSI Afterburner and video capture software, which have nothing to do with cheating.

Each game's rules change, and what is written above was checked on the date of this revision. Checking the rules of the game you play, today, is item 3.3 — and it is on you.

The license agreement of several games expressly prohibits "modifying the game interface". A crosshair overlay can be interpreted that way by the game's operator, and the interpretation that counts is theirs.

3.2 You assume this risk in full

If your game account is banned, suspended, restricted or penalized in any way for using this application, the responsibility is yours and the loss is yours.

This includes, without limitation: loss of access to the account, loss of purchased items, loss of progress, loss of money spent in the game, and the impossibility of recovering any of these.

Anti-cheat bans are frequently permanent and without right of appeal. We have no way to reverse, contest or mediate any of this — we are not a party to your relationship with the game's operator.

3.3 Check the game's rules first

Before using Overlay RZ in any online game, read that game's terms of service and rules of conduct. It is your responsibility to know what the game you play allows.

3.4 Our honest recommendation

Where the game already offers a customizable crosshair, use the game's own. It is safer and costs nothing.

If the game does not offer one, and you depend on a visible crosshair for accessibility, weigh the risk with the information above and decide. We built the tool; the decision to use it in a specific game is yours.

3.5 About games with "free aim" crosshairs

Some games — Insurgency, among others — fire in the direction of the weapon's barrel, not the center of the screen. In those games, a centered crosshair shows wrong information when you shoot without aiming. This is not a defect of the application: it is how the game works.

4. What the application deliberately does NOT do

These limits are design decisions, and we do not intend to cross them:

• Does not inject code (DLL) into any process.
• Does not hook DirectX, Vulkan or any game graphics API.
• Does not read the memory of other programs.
• Does not hide its own window from detection systems nor mask its characteristics.
• Does not automate any game action — there is no auto-aim, no auto-fire, no macro.

The application is visible to the system like any other window. We do not and will not do anything to make it harder to detect, because that would constitute an attempt to circumvent anti-cheat — which is precisely what aggravates the punishment under practically every game contract.

5. Warranties

The application is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose or of uninterrupted operation.

We strive to make it work well and we fix the problems we find, but we do not warrant that it will be free of defects, nor that it will work with every game, every hardware configuration or every version of Windows.

This does not remove the rights the Brazilian Consumer Defense Code guarantees you. If you are a consumer in Brazil, the rights provided in Law 8.078/1990 remain valid, regardless of what this document says.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RZ Software is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from the use or the inability to use the application — including, without limitation, loss of game accounts, loss of virtual items, loss of progress, lost profits or loss of data.

Since the application is free, there is no amount paid to be refunded.

Nothing in this clause excludes liability for willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any other case that Brazilian law does not allow to be excluded, including those provided in the Consumer Defense Code.

7. Privacy

The application does not collect, does not transmit and does not share any data. The details are in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

8. Updates and discontinuation

We publish new versions through the Microsoft Store, and Windows installs them automatically — unless you turn off automatic updates in the Store settings. Old versions may stop working correctly after changes to Windows.

If we ever decide to discontinue the application, we will announce it on this site (https://overlay-rz.emalon.io). The version you already installed keeps working — it runs entirely on your computer and does not depend on any service of ours.

9. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The date at the top indicates the latest revision, and relevant changes will be announced in the application's update notes. Continuing to use it after a change means you have accepted it.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

If you are a consumer in Brazil, the courts of your place of residence have jurisdiction, in accordance with the Consumer Defense Code.

If you use the application outside Brazil, the consumer protection rules of your country that cannot be waived by contract continue to apply — this document does not attempt to set them aside.
