Privacy Policy — Overlay RZ

In one sentence

Overlay RZ does not collect, does not transmit and does not share any data of yours. It does not connect to the internet. Everything it writes stays on your computer, in a folder you can open, read and delete whenever you want.

Why this policy exists if the application collects nothing

Microsoft requires a privacy policy from every desktop application published on the Store, even when it accesses no data at all (Microsoft Store Policies, section 10.5.1). We would rather use this space to say precisely what the application does — and what it does not do — than repeat generic boilerplate that does not describe this program.

Everything here can be verified without taking our word for it: the installed package declares no network permission — open Settings › Apps › Overlay RZ to check — and Windows blocks connections from applications that did not request that permission.

What the application does NOT do

These statements are categorical, not caveats:

• Does not connect to the internet. There is no network communication in the application. The package does not request network permission from Windows, which means the operating system would stop it even if it tried.
• Has no telemetry, usage statistics or behavior analytics.
• Does not check for updates on its own and does not send error reports. The Microsoft Store is what updates the application, through the standard Windows mechanism and under Microsoft's privacy policy — Overlay RZ takes no part in that.
• Does not create or collect identifiers. There is no installation identifier, device identifier, hardware serial number or any code that links the application to you or to your machine.
• Does not read your computer's name or your Windows account name for any purpose.
• Does not know which games you play. The application detects which monitor is in use in order to position the crosshair, but it never checks which program is open, nor the name or title of any window.
• Does not capture the screen, does not record video and does not take pictures of what you see.
• Does not read the memory of any other program, does not inject code into games and does not monitor what you type.
• Does not display ads and does not integrate any third-party service.
• Does not touch the Windows registry and does not set itself to start with the system. If that option ever exists, it will ship turned off and will be described here.

What is stored on your computer

The application writes three files, all in its data folder.

When installed from the Microsoft Store, that folder is at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\RZSoftware.OverlayRZ_<código>\LocalCache\Roaming\MiraOverlay\ — in File Explorer, paste %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages into the address bar and open the folder whose name starts with RZSoftware.OverlayRZ.

The path is long because the Store keeps each application in its own area, separate from the others. The application itself asks Windows for the user's data folder and writes there; it is Windows that routes it inside the package.

1. config.json — your crosshair preferences

Stores what you configured: shape, colors, sizes, opacity, position offset, hotkeys, chosen language and the names you gave to your saved presets.

It is a readable text file — you can open it in Notepad and check its contents. It contains nothing that identifies you.

2. aviso-lido — the date you read the initial notice

Stores only a date and time, so that the notice about use in online games is not shown at every launch.

3. erros.log — local failure log

When something goes wrong, the application writes down what happened in this file. Without it, a failure would leave no trace at all and it would be impossible to find the cause.

What you need to know about this file:

• It may contain file paths from your system. Before writing, the application replaces personal folders with variables (%APPDATA%, %USERPROFILE%), precisely so that your Windows user name is not recorded.
• It is never sent anywhere. It stays on your computer.
• It deletes itself once it grows past 256 KB.
• If you want to send us this file to help solve a problem, the choice is yours — open it first and check its contents. We never request it automatically nor collect it.

What the Microsoft Store does on its own

The Store belongs to Microsoft, not to us. It shows us aggregate numbers — how many installs, from which countries, on which Windows versions — and, if the application crashes, Windows Error Reporting may send Microsoft a technical summary of the failure, which Microsoft passes on to us with no name and no identification.

None of this goes through Overlay RZ, none of it identifies you, and we have no way to turn it off. How Microsoft handles that data is covered by Microsoft's privacy policy, not this one.

How to delete everything

Uninstalling deletes everything at once. Go to Settings › Apps › Overlay RZ › Uninstall. Windows removes the application and its data folder in the same operation — including your settings and the presets you saved. Nothing is left on your computer, and nothing ever left it.

If you want to delete only the configuration and keep using the application, delete the folder described above: it returns to factory defaults on the next launch.

Children

The application collects data from no one, of any age. There is no sign-up, there is no login and there is no way to send information through it.

Your rights (LGPD and GDPR)

The Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law 13.709/2018) and the European General Data Protection Regulation guarantee you rights over your personal data: access, correction, deletion, portability and withdrawal of consent.

The application does not process any personal data of yours. There is no database, there is no server and there is no record anywhere under our control. The files described above stay on your computer, under your exclusive control — you already have direct access to all of them and can delete them without asking us for anything.

The only data that can reach us is what you yourself send by e-mail, and that is described in the next section.

If you write to us

The only path by which information of yours can reach us is e-mail — and only if you decide to write. When that happens, we keep what you sent: your e-mail address, the name shown on it and the content of the message, including erros.log if you attach it.

• What for: to reply to you and fix the reported problem. Nothing beyond that.
• Legal basis: fulfilling your request (LGPD, Article 7, items V and IX).
• For how long: while the conversation is open and for up to 12 months afterwards, in case the same problem comes back. After that, we delete it.
• Who we share it with: no one. The message stays in our e-mail inbox and is not passed on to third parties.
• To delete it sooner: ask in the same conversation. We delete it and confirm.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the application starts processing data in any way, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be announced in the update notes. The date at the top indicates the latest revision.
